Rift Valley leaders recently came together to support Kalya Gift Moi, the 14 year old grandson of the late President Daniel Arap Moi. Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi spearheaded the initiative, which aimed to assist Gift Moi, who has a cyst on his left upper jaw, which needs surgery.
The surgery was initially scheduled for January 4, 2024, but had to be postponed due to financial limitations
Gift’s mother, Faith Milkah Moi, is one of the three wives of the late Jonathan Moi, a renowned Safari Rally driver who passed away from pancreatic cancer in April 19, 2019.
Faith Milka Moi made a public appeal for financial contributions to assist with her son’s medical expenses recently, amidst ongoing legal proceedings regarding the family’s estate.
The event, held on Tuesday, April 23, at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi was a testament to the solidarity of the community.
Within just five minutes, leaders, including Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui, rallied support and raised an impressive total of Sh 6.15 million.
MP Oscar Sudi generously donated Sh 1 million, setting the tone for others to follow. CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Governor Johnson Sakaja each contributed Sh 500,000. While Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and CS Chelugui added KSh 300,000 and Sh 400,000, respectively.
As Gift Moi prepares for his medical treatment in India, the thoughts and prayers of many are with him, wishing him strength and a speedy recovery.
