US-based Bishop Paul Ngarama, Monica Kimani’s father, plans to visit his daughter’s convicted killer, Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu, in prison during his upcoming trip to the country. Ngarama said he views Jowie like a son.
Ngarama will also visit Jacque Maribe’s family. The former news girl was charged as an accomplice to Jowie but later acquitted.
The Bishop said he intends to reconcile the three families that were dragged into his daughter’s death since 2018.
“When I go back to Kenya, I will visit Jowie in prison and have a chat with him because he is like my son. “I want this to be part of the reconciliation process among the three families – Jowie’s, Jackie Maribe’s and my family,” Bishop Paul Ngarama told Kenya Diaspora Media in Washington
He said that forgiving Jowie even before the court’s sentencing has enabled him to start healing, adding that God guided him to chart the path of forgiveness.
Ngarama reiterated that forgiveness is important since Jowie may one day be released despite being sentenced to death by Lady Justice Grace Nzioka.
“It’s important to bring the three families together and to seek forgiveness despite what happened because one day Jowie might come out from jail even though he was sentenced to death,”
The counselling psychology scholar at the Full Bright Theological Seminary said.
He added, “We can talk together; to say let this issue rest because we don’t know about the matter. We need healing the most.”
