Social media influencer Elsa Majimbo recently came clean on the alleged blackballing by supermodel Naomi Campbell, 53, in the Hollywood industry. In a since-deleted video, Elsa starts by saying, “To those who ask, ‘Is Naomi Campbell your mentor?’ Relax because, well, am here to answer that.”
Elsa Majimbo and Naomi Campbell Meet
Elsa Majimbo and Naomi Campbell first met in December 2020. The supermodel visited Nairobi and invited Elsa Majimbo for a vacation at a Kenyan beach. Elsa, 21, recounted, “We met in December of 2020 when Naomi Campbell holidayed in Kenya and was in Nairobi for shopping. She invited my brother and I to her beach destination, and we had a great time.”
During their beach vacation, Naomi Campbell suggested that Elsa Majimbo shoot a documentary about her journey from Kenya to Hollywood. Tensions flared when Majimbo instead premiered a documentary about comedy, colorism, and discrimination in 2021 without informing Campbell about the shift in plans.
“In 2021, I did a documentary about my life – bullying, growing up with colorism, how I fell in love with comedy. The film was debuting in March 2022 at Tribeca Film Festival.”
Elsa Majimbo recalled.
Naomi Campbell, in a heated phone call, expressed her outrage over the lack of information regarding the change of plans for the documentary. The mother-of-two went as far as threatening to sue Elsa Majimbo over the rights of the film.
“Naomi Campbell called me and was like ‘Elsa, how dare you!’ She asked why I did not go with her idea for the documentary and why I failed to inform her. Naomi Campbell threatened to sue me for the rights of the movie and she said, ‘You know I will win right?”
She stated.
Elsa Majimbo failed to call Naomi Campbell with an explanation the next day as promised as she had a 22-hour flight from Botswana to Ghana with no signal. The situation escalated, leading to a complete breakdown in communication. Naomi allegedly told Elsa, “You were supposed to call me yesterday and failed to. This is the last time I’m speaking to you. Have a nice life,” before hanging up.
Elsa Majimbo Ostracized
The misunderstanding was the beginning of a difficult time for Elsa in the Hollywood industry. Her mental health took a hit, and she resorted to excessive drinking, until a chance encounter with Ghanaian British stylist and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful, who made Elsa realize the gravity of her situation and decided to rectify it.
“Things started going very badly for me. I started drinking a lot because I could not place my finger on why, until I met Edward Enninful, who made me realize that the Naomi Campbell situation was causing the trials and tribulations I underwent.”
Elsa Majimbo narrated.
Majimbo clarified that the situation prompted her drinking, taking full responsibility, and refuted any suggestion that Naomi Campbell forced the alcohol on her.

Since then, Majimbo sought to mend ties with Campbell, by running every decision she made past Naomi. But it “did not feel normal or healthy.” Eventually, Elsa Majimbo decided to distance herself from the relationship for her peace of mind.
The influencer also recalled an encounter with a lady she met through Naomi who claimed, “Naomi told us she made you and made your career, and what you have is because of her,” which Majimbo refuted. The encounter added to the misconceptions about Naomi Campbell’s influence on Elsa Majimbo’s career.
Strained Relationship
While acknowledging Campbell’s initial support, Majimbo clarified that their relationship remains strained, neither friends nor foes. Majimbo quoted, “I’m not going to speak on that, but I will say that Naomi did give me a lot of credibility, especially when I first came to Hollywood. She made me feel special; she did a lot of things for me, so I wouldn’t say she made me, but she did play a big role in many things. We’re not friends; we’re not enemies; we’re not anything.”
Naomi Campbell is yet to comment on the allegations.
