Celebrated gospel singer Christina Shusho addressed her decision to separate from her husband John Shusho, and her reluctance to be labeled as a pastor.
In an undated interview with New Jerusalem Church TV, the “Shusha Nyavu” hitmaker explained she left her marriage to serve her calling to the ministry calling.
She stated, “I have always been authentic and truthful. The reality is that it’s just a mission. Nothing else has changed. The assignment God gave me at this time required me to leave where I was (my marriage), to fulfill the mission.”
Before the separation, Shusho apparently sought her husband’s blessing to pursue her calling and assured that they remain on good terms.
The mother of three disagreed with the idea that spouses always have the same calling, advocating for mutual understanding and support for individual paths.
Shusho emphasized, “Getting married is part of what God brings together, but what He has put in both of you is different. We should not lie to each other. What is needed is for both of you to come to an agreement and get to know what each of you is gifted in.”
Addressing their current relationship, Christina Shusho said she does not post her ex-husband as his posts do not generate any income for her brand. She stated, “Sharing posts about him doesn’t generate income. I am my own brand in the public eye.”
Christina Shusho also reflected on her discomfort with being referred to as a pastor. Rather, she identifies as a dreamer with a broader vision.
She expressed, “I am a dreamer. There’s a vision I need to see through. I prefer not to be called a pastor. I think I have more to do.”
