Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla will be laid to rest at his home in Mor Alego, Siaya County, on Sunday, April 21, aligning with CDF Ogolla’s wish to be buried within 72 hours of his passing.

“In honor of his humble nature, General Ogolla specified that his burial occurs within 72 hours of his passing.” The late CDF Ogolla’s family stated.

“His family has chosen Sunday, April 21st, 2024, for his final farewell, to be held at his cherished home in Mor, Alego, Siaya County.”

Casketless Burial

Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces CDF Francis Ogolla

Canon Hezekiah Oduor, the elder brother of the late CDF Francis Ogolla, disclosed that his brother will have a casketless burial as per his wishes

In his will, General Ogolla had expressed his preference for a simple and ritualistic burial, similar to Muslim traditions, which the family affirmed.

As per Ogolla’s instructions, his body will be wrapped in sheets, a decision aimed at easing any undue burden on the family.

Additionally, Oduor revealed that the married father of two had personally indicated the precise location for his grave near his residence in Mor village, Siaya County.

Before the burial, there will be a service at his local church in Nduru.

After the burial, a memorial service will be held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata on Friday, April 26.

Sadly, CDF Ogolla passed on just two days before his father Mzee Joel Oyeyo’s 100th birthday celebrations. The family is set to go on with the birthday celebrations on Saturday April 20, as planned.
