Comedian Cyprian Osoro has exposed a church minister who has been impersonating him online and sexually preying on unsuspecting females. Osoro identified the culprit as Martin Mokaya Ombogo, notorious for extorting money and intimate pictures from ladies. The comedian said,“Ombogo went on with the rod’s work in the inbox” by asking women “to send nudes.”
Osoro Meets Impostor
Osoro is well acquainted with Martin Mokaya Ombogo. They initially met for business, which was a success. Ombogo also asked Osoro to help with wedding planning, but could not afford Osoro’s MC fees.
Martin first tried to trick Osoro and his business partner, Victor Nyaata of ‘Mkisii ni Mkisii,’ by falsely claiming that each had offered services at a lower price. But this failed when the duo uncovered his deceitful scheme.
Next Ombogo set up a fake Telegram profile under Osoro’s name and the same profile picture the comedian uses on social media. Osoro cited, “So this new buddy follows me on Instagram and has my contact. He learnt that my Instagram, Telegram, and WhatsApp have the same profile picture. He created a telegram account using my name.”
Apparently, Ombogo targeting victims based on Osoro’s interactions on Instagram. And since Osoro’s fans wanted to interact with the comedian, the impersonator was lucky “90% of the time. “Osoro adds that so long as one “identified as a she, woe unto you. Ni wewe na ‘Osoro’ mpaka mwisho.”
Osoro Exposes Impersonator
Also, the impersonator used false excuses such as “Osoro has a burial to attend, sick people harambees, and delayed salary” to swindle money from unsuspecting lady fans, who were eager to meet the comedian.
Osoro became suspicious when an Instagram follower asked if he was chatting with her on Telegram. However, it was not him, as Osoro rarely uses the app.
The comedian mentioned that the impersonator asked women for explicit photos using both his own profile and the one pretending to be Osoro. He stated, “My guy asks for nudes, and again using his own personal profile. If you refuse, he wonders why, considering that didn’t you send ‘Osoro’ nudes just last night?”
Apparently, some ladies were unhappy that their nudes never reached the real Osoro. The comedian commented, “Pale kwa DM naona kuna wale wamejam ati nini zao hazikuwai nifikia! Unajua nacheka kwa nini?”
The ladies who sent photos were upset because Osoro didn’t continue the conversation, and some even intentionally skipped his shows unaware of the impersonation.
“While some sent the photos, others did not. Some are mad that I went mute after we had such intimate conversations. Some do not attend my shows anymore. Just because the guy was doing the most via Direct Messages.”
Apparently, at the time of impersonation, Ombogo, whom Osoro described as well-dressed and soft-spoken “was busy prepping for his wedding,” but still wanted to play the field.
Impersonator Discovered
Around April 2023, a ‘Kalle girl’ disclosed to Osoro that she had been conversing with Ombogo, mistakenly thinking it was Osoro. Ombogo expressed an interest in knowing and seeing the size of her breasts. However, being married, she politely declined and instead connected him with her single sister.
As it happened, the sister was acquainted with the Osoro family, as her friend was married to a relative of Osoro. This revelation led to the collapse of Ombogo’s deceptive story, and he was cornered.
Ombogo also admitted to a KRA colleague that he was impersonating Osoro.
The impersonator also informed his victims that he lived in Lang’ata and invited them, causing another issue as he didn’t know Osoro’s actual residence. Osoro explained, “Ombogo used to invite the fine ghels to Lang’ata. He forgot that he was on a script and needed to know where the real Osoro lives so that where Osoro liveth, he may also dweleth.”
Ombogo was also unable to conjure a joke upon request by a female fan.
When Osoro confronted Ombogo, he denied the allegations of impersonation and told Osoro, a staunch SDA Christian, that he was being put to the test.
A baffled Osoro expressed, “What I do not understand is asking for nudes from several women in one go. Then after viewing, return to the Christian group chats’ and still act okay, assume the leadership role.”
Osoro admitted that due to Ombogo’s impersonation jeopardized his reputation. He expresses “I do not know if anyone would dare hear me out if the screenshots came up some day and I tried saying it wasn’t me. The world is unforgiving! What we have spent ages building, takes a few seconds to bring down. The same people saying ‘you have done well to call him out’ are the same people who would have slandered me.”
Osoro Disappointed with the Church
As more ladies expose Ombogo, Osoro is disappointed that the church where Ombogo ministers as a choir master defended him telling Osoro, “We continue to afford Martin the due respect and care we are required to give him. That is the high road we are called to.” Osoro fails to understand how “a leader in the church is a sex predator and the current leadership is busy protecting him.”
As a minister in the church, he did all these as the person in charge of members’ wellbeing! Am disappointed in the current leadership and how you have addressed the issue. Several members have come to you and told you how much of a sexual predator Martin Mokaya is. But all you did was ‘dismiss’ them. No one reached out to me to find out what really transpired! Ladies have come forth with claims that Martin Mokaya was ‘extorting nudes from them either disguised or as himself. But you chose to ‘protect him”
Osoro said that he is not a moral police over Ombogo’s blatant infidelity. However, he reiterated, “I have a problem with Ombogo impersonating me.”
Martin Mokaya Ombogo is yet to publicly respond to the impersonation allegations.
