Kenyan hip-hop legend and actress Nazizi Hirji shared the profound pain she continues to endure 50 days after the tragic loss of her three-year-old son, Jazeel. The devastating incident occurred on Christmas day 2023 when the three-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic accident at a hotel in Tanzania, where the family was staying. Jazeel was laid to rest two days later at a private ceremony in Nairobi, adhering to his religious customs.
In her heartfelt post, Nazizi used poignant words to convey the overwhelming sorrow that has consumed her since the loss. The pain is evident in her words as she grapples with the absence of her beloved Jazeel, describing herself as “broken” and feeling like she is “drowning in the darkness.“
“Broken, drowning in the darkness , I will never be ok again. @jazeeladam, forever three.
The singer penned on Instagram.
50 days without my baby.”
Nazizi Mourns Jazeel’s Death
The grief-stricken mother shared a touching video that encapsulates the spirit of her precious son in a few fleeting seconds. Jazeel, she says, brought a new meaning to family, and all he ever needed was for the family of four to be together all the time. His absence has made life unbearable for Nazizi, who laments, “My world stopped when you left me, Jiji. I miss you, my sweet special boy.“
The pain of waking up each morning without the light of her life is palpable in Nazizi’s words. She questions the purpose of facing each day, only to be engulfed in tears and longing for her lost son. The depth of the love shared between Nazizi and Jazeel is evident as she emphasizes how much he was adored and how much she would give to be with him again.
“How do I keep going without the light of my life?
A grieving Nazizi wrote.
Why should i wake up every morning , just to cry and miss you all day ?
You loved us so much, and we loved you even more, my precious jazzy.
This video just captures your spirit in a few seconds.
All you ever needed was for us 4 to be together all the time.
You brought a new meaning to family. My boy life is unbearable without you .
Mama loves you so so much, and I would do anything to be with you again.
I will never be the same.”
