Renowned radio personality Mwalimu Rachel has exposed financial injustice, claiming that Sailors Gang remains unpaid in collaborations with Octopizzo and KRG The Don. Mwalimu Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Gathoni, previously managed the now-defunct Gengetone boy group, including Peter Miracle Baby, Shalkido, QoqosJuma, Masilver, and Lexxy Yung, under MRX (Mwalimu Rachel Experience) Company. However, a fallout occurred when Sailors accused management of withholding passwords to their music channel accounts.

Speaking on the Mic Cheque podcast, Mwalimu Rachel recounted how Sailors went behind her back and collaborated with Octopizzo on the “Wakiritho” song without any financial agreement. She discovered the song the same time as the public.

I came across the ‘Wakiritho’ song Sailors did with Octo just like everybody else. The boys went and recorded a song without any split shits or agreement.”

The mother of one revealed.

Despite approving the collaboration, Mwalimu Rachel advised the group to let management handle negotiations. However, the group, impatient to release the song, took matters into their own hands.

“These boys came to me and told me they wanted to go to studio with Octo. I told them that it was a good idea. But let management handle it now, which we started. But they got impatient and wanted the song immediately. So they arranged it themselves, made the song and shot the video.”

She recounted.

Four years after the release of ‘Wakiritho’, Mwalimu Rachel is unaware of financial agreements between Octopizzo and Sailors. And whether Sailors have the rights to perform the song.

“Honestly, I do not know their agreement up to date, all I know is any monies goes to Octo. I do not know if Sailors can even perform the song.”

The radio presenter said.

The same case goes for Sailors’ collaboration with musician KRG The Don. As far as Mwalimu Rachel is concerned, food and drinks were the only payment Sailors got from the partnership.

“They went and did the same with KRG, went and recorded a song, and I heard they were paid with ‘nyama and tei’ (food and alcohol.)”

Mwalimu Rachel expressed.

To make matters worse, Mwalimu Rachel took the blame for the group’s actions, while they ignored her advice
