Ambassador Consul General Mr. Thomas Kwaka Omolo alias Big Ted recently opened up on his divorce. He was speaking to Mwafreeka of the Iko Nini podcast. He and his wife Sheila met in Java and dated for 7 years before tying the knot in 2022 in an exclusive event with only 16 guests. The two divorced not long after moving to the US due to moving in different life directions.
“Mimi na yeye tulikuwa tunaenda direction tofauti. (My ex-wife and I were headed into different directions.)
Big Ted said.
He admits to not making efforts to reconcile their divergent paths.
“Na sikutake time kujaribu kuingiza hizo vitu mbili zishikane.” (And I failed to try and merge the two directions.)
The former Corporate MC expressed.
Big Ted on Divorce
Big Ted further clarified that neither his job nor money issues contributed to the divorce. Rather, the couple’s differences made them incompatible.
“The divorce was not due to my government job, nor money. Just getting to a place that we were completely different people. Then you come to find that we are strangers.”
He opened up.
The former State House employee suggested that an amicable divorce was better than facing a tragic outcome.
“Divorce is not final, but I’d rather you go back to your parents with your suitcase than go back to your parents in a suitcase.”
Big Ted shared.
A Girl Dad
Big Ted is a proud father of two daughters. He fondly reminisced that his girls have him twisted around their fingers. The girl dad lovingly shared that he finds it hard to say no to them.
“Am a slave of these children and cannot tell them no. They know this. Am like, what do you need? I will give you today.“
He said.
The Nairobi School alumni further expressed that he is very protective of his girls. And that he shields them from the limelight.
“Nimewapiga cover mbaya.(I have completely protected them) Even if you Google them, you won’t find them.”
Big Ted stated.
