Two men suspected of shooting and stealing Ksh3.97 million from a Kenyan businessman identified as Adan Ali Mohammed, 26, in the Eastleigh area of Nairobi have been found dead.
According to reports, the bodies of the two suspects and that of a woman suspected to be a partner were retrieved from different areas in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties.
It is suspected the three were murdered. The bodies of the first suspect and his girlfriend were found around the Juja and Lari areas in Kiambu County.
The second suspect’s lifeless body was retrieved from a place not disclosed. The bodies were transferred to Nairobi’s City mortuary.
Autopsy reports conducted at the facility indicate that the three died by drowning, as large amounts of water were visible in the lungs.
CCTV footage captured the horrific incident from one of the neighboring shops in the busy Eastleigh shopping center. The video revealed two men on a motorbike, shooting and grabbing a bag from Adan.
Speaking to the press the following day, a relative of the victim revealed chilling details of the attack. Adan had sustained a spinal cord injury resulting from a bullet that entered through his neck and exited through the back.
“He was taking two-day sales of cooking oil to the bank. He found the bank closed and called his colleague to inform him,” the relative explained.
“He was told to take a motorbike and within a half-kilometer, he was accosted by thieves whose origins were unknown. He was shot and robbed of the money.”
According to the hospital, Adan required a special procedure to return functionality in both his legs, which were affected by the injury.
On April 4, police tracked and arrested one of the suspects in Mombasa. The man was in the process of buying a car with money suspected to be from the robbery.
The main suspect was buried at the Kariokor cemetery on Monday, following Islamic culture, which requires the deceased to be buried within 24 hours after their death.
