Veteran journalist Fred Ombachi Machoka, 70, has taken issue with a social media post from NRG Radio Kenya featuring presenter Natalie Githinji. The Valentine’s Day post, which depicts Githinji in a suggestive pose with her feet in the air and her arms holding her derrière, has stirred controversy. To add salt to injury, NRG Radio Kenya accompanied the photo with an innuendo-laden caption- “Him: unanipea nini Valentine’s Day kesho (what are you offering me tomorrow for Valentine’s Day?) Her: (the photo)“
NRG Radio Responds
In response to the criticism, NRG Radio Kenya has acknowledged that there were no negative intentions in the publication of the Valentine’s Day post on social media.
“Hello Big Bro @fredomachoka na mafans wa NRG, hatukuwa na ubaya. (Hello Big Bro @fredomachoka and NRG fans, we had no ill intentions)”
NRG Radio stated.
Machoka’s Displeasure
Fred Ombachi Machoka expressed his displeasure on microblogging social media platform X, labeling NRG Radio Valentine’s Day post as a “sign of desperation” that aims to cheapen the journalism profession, which he finds unfortunate.
The renowned journalist further urged the management of NRG Radio to request the individual to remove what he described as an unappealing poster, stating that he believes it does not align with the standards that decent ladies would approve of.
