Kilifi County Chief Officer for Blue Economy, Rahab Karisa, is dead.
Karisa was reportedly stabbed to death by her house help on Thursday, July 20, 2023, who has since taken off and remains at large.
Reports by local media houses show that the county official was murdered after she arrived from a work trip in Italy.
Why
A family member who sought anonymity said that Karisa had questioned the house help on why she spent a lot of money outside the agreed budget.
“The house help was not happy and she quarreled with her leading to the stabbing,” said the source.
This was shared by the guard of Karisa’s house located in the Mnarani in Kilifi.
Manhunt
Confirming the incident, Kilifi County police commander Fatuma Hadi said officers have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
Kilifi governor Gideon Mungaro expressed shock at the untimely death of the officer. He described Rahab as a young, talented, hardworking officer and her future was bright.
“It is with great shock, disbelief and profound sadness that I announce the untimely death of Rahab Amani Karisa, Chief Officer, and Division of Blue Economy in the Department of Agriculture, Livestock Development, and Blue Economy. Rahab was a young, talented, hardworking officer and her future was bright” he said.
“According to the preliminary police investigation, Rahab was brutally murdered by her househelp. I am calling upon the security agencies to move with speed to arrest the known culprit to face the full force of the law” he appealed.
The matter remains under investigation.
