The family of the late Jeff Mwathi, who died mysteriously on Feb 23rd, have expressed their dissatisfaction with the probe results that were presented to them by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
The family faulted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) over the manner in which detectives conducted investigations into the death of their kin.
Speaking at the family home in Njoro, Jeff’s mother Anne Mwathi, insisted that her son did not die by suicide. She said Jeff Mwathi was killed in DJ Fatxo’s house.
Mwathi’s mother also questioned why the police had not made any arrests in connection with Jeff’s death. She also mentioned that police did not seal off DJ Fatxo’s house during investigations as they concluded that it was a suicide.
The family poked holes into the report, saying the next cause of action is to urge the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to charge those involved in the death.
The autopsy report
According to Jeff’s mother, the detectives said they were unable to give them a report on the exhumation, accusing the family of trusting the media more than the investigators.
“I am hurt… They had me exhume my son’s body and then reported that there was no evidence. That was wrong. I want justice for my son,” she added.
“Venye aliuawa, hiyo nyumba haikuzingirwa ikuwe haiwezi ingiwa na mtu mpaka uchunguzi ifanywe. Waliconsider mtoto wangu amejiua. Although mi najua mtoto wangu hakujiua,” Jeff’s mother said.
Conflicting statements
The family members also claimed that the statements recorded by the persons of interests were not consistent with the events of that fateful day.
Jeff’s kin were not convinced by information on the police report that claimed that the persons on interest were not in the house when the falling body was captured by CCTV footage.
The news comes as the DCI forwarded Jeff’s file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for direction.
The DCI stated that the investigation ended after the homicide department received an autopsy report from the Government Pathologist and the government Chemist.
“The file is now complete and has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions this evening, for perusal and advice,” the agency stated.
