World-famous rapper Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty aka Nicki Minaj come clean on reports she is expecting a second bundle of joy with husband Kenneth Petty. In a video she shared with her online family, the multi-award-winning rapper said she decided to set the record straight after a post she made earlier on the same platform left many of her fans flooding her inbox with congratulatory messages directed to the “pregnancy”. Nicki Minaj logged in for a late-night Instagram Live chat and found herself setting the record straight about a rumored pregnancy, as many of her fans were quick to notice her change in weight. During her Instagram live session on July 10, 2022, a fan asked the rapper whether she was pregnant, and Minaj responded by rhetorically asking the same question. “Am I pregnant?” she asked with wide eyes while fielding a few live questions from fans in London, where she’s set to headline Wireless Festival. “Oh, I did mean to tweet this: I’m not fat, y’all, I’m pregnant,” said Minaj with a chuckle. The rapper’s live session continued until she noticed her fans pouring out congratulatory messages and she suddenly corrected the statement she had just made “Oh wait,” said Minaj. “Did I say it wrong? I’m sorry. I think I said it wrong. I meant to say I’m not pregnant, I’m fat.” Nicki and her husband Petty welcomed their first child together in September 2020, about a year after they tied the knot. The couple has endured several controversies over the past year, including allegations they harassed and intimidated a woman who accused Petty of sexual assault in the 1990s. Petty was ultimately convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 and served four years in prison. Following the conviction, Petty was ordered to register as a sex offender for life. However, authorities say he failed to register in California when he moved from New York to Los Angeles in 2019. On Wednesday, July 6, 2022, he was sentenced to a year of in-home confinement and three years of probation for the crime. “I take full responsibility for whatever happens today,” he said during the sentencing hearing. “I’m ashamed, embarrassed, and disrespected my wife’s brand. There are no excuses, I broke the law. I thank you for giving me the chance to speak, to apologize.”
